Know Who You Want To Be
Play assignment
Spend some time thinking about who you want to be.
Stephen Convey in his book the “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” writes about “beginning with the end in mind”.
A helpful exercise to do is to imagine that you’re going to a funeral. You enter the building where the funeral is taking place and you walk to the front of the room. You realise as you sit down that you’re actually attending your own funeral. There are four speakers representing the following groups:
- family
- friends
- community
- work/profession
What would you like each speaker to say about you and your life? The information that you get from this exercise will give you more insight into who you would like to be.
Knowing what is really important to you will support you during your period of transition.
